Sequoia helps organisations build trust and support for work that matters.

We work with leaders, teams and organisations at moments of change, when the work is important, the decisions are complex, and bringing people with you is the difference between a strategy and a result.

Sequoia was founded by Anne McReynolds and Áine McVerry. Between them they've led major cultural institutions, shaped landmark capital projects, and worked at senior level across the public, cultural and place-based sectors in the UK and Ireland.

We're not outsiders looking in. We've sat in the chair, made the decisions, and faced the same pressures our clients face. That experience shapes how we work.

Why organisations work with us

Many of the organisations we work with operate in complex environments where decisions affect communities, partners and stakeholders. Our role is often to help them step back, focus on what matters most, and move forward with clarity and support around the work they are trying to deliver.

How we work

We bring clarity in complexity.

Many of our clients operate in fast-moving, politically sensitive or contested environments. Our role is to help them focus, cutting through noise, navigating uncertainty, and making bold but workable decisions when it matters most.

We bridge strategy and storytelling.

Most firms offer one or the other. We do both. Sharp strategic thinking paired with narratives organisations can actually use to bring people with them.

We stay with the work.

We don't deliver a strategy and disappear. We embed with teams and support delivery from boardroom to front line, so the strategy actually sticks.

Our values

We value vision — but only when it fuels action.

We value honesty — because trust is built on it.

We value fresh thinking — because important work needs fresh perspective to move forward.

What’s in a name?

tHE sTORY about ours.

We’re often asked why we chose the name Sequoia.

In the summer of 2023, while on holiday in Northern Spain, Áine and her young family visited the Cantabrian Redwood Forest in Cabezón de la Sal, home to a rare grove of towering sequoia trees. Planted in the 1940s, these giants already stood at an impressive 118 feet, though still young by sequoia standards.

Walking among them had a real impact on Áine and her family. They were awed by the quiet strength and calm the trees seemed to hold. Sequoias are extraordinary things, they are regarded as symbols of longevity, power, strength, creativity, and energy. Some live for over 3,000 years, bearing witness to centuries of change while standing strong and steady through it all.

That moment stayed with Áine. The sequoia felt like more than a tree, it reflected the kind of work she and Anne want to do: work that’s purposeful, deeply rooted, and built to last.

It also happens to be a beautiful word to say.
Go on, try it with us: Se-coy-ya.
